Panasonic intros Lumix DMC-TS3 rugged compact camera with built-in GPS

Panasonic today unveilsthe LUMIX DMC-TS3 (DMC-FT3 in Europe) with rugged design and built-in GPS, altimeter, barometer and a compass.

The DMC-TS3 is equipped with 12.1-megapixel CCD sensor, Venus Engine FHD processor, a 28mm wide-angle LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens, an optical zoom up to 4.6x and thanks to the newly incorporated Intelligent Resolution technology, the Intelligent Zoom is available and extends the zoom to 6x equivalent. The camera has 2.7-inch, 230,000-dot Intelligent LCD screen with Anti-Reflection coating and due to its rugged design offers waterproof to approximately 12m,  shockproof to approximately 2m,  freezeproof to 14ºF (-10 degrees C) and is dustproof. It can record full HD 1920 x 1080 AVCHD videos and feature Panasonic 3D Photo mode.

The camera also has built-in LED flash, SD Memory Card slot and packs additional features such as image stabilization, POWER OIS, Face Recognition, Face Detection, AF Tracking, Intelligent ISO Control, Intelligent Scene Selector and Intelligent Exposure.

The integrated GPS function covers 203 countries, plus more than 1,000,000 landmarks over 78 countries or regions, giving users details on where the photos or videos were taken. The LUMIX TS3 will be available in red, orange, silver, and blue in Mrach, but pricing was not announced and will be revealed 30 days before shipping date.
