Grand Sphere

Grand Sphere is one of those Google Play apps where you have to invest some time and effort in order to learn how to play them. So if you don’t have these two resources, don’t download this game.

Actually the idea behind Grand Sphere is not a bad one – in fact we would call it great! The game is a huge one with a long story behind it and this is what makes it a grand game. The app takes you to a fantasy world (as usual) where you will have to defend all life from the evil Dark Spheres. This is when you will realize that Grand Sphere is a turn-based game where you take turns to defeat you enemies and advance in the game. But it also takes some strategy skills to succeed since you will face different enemies and you will have to fight them with different weapons. What makes the game interesting is that you will make decisions every turn so every battle will be different. So prepare for some serious turn-based action – yes, there’s such a thing!

Unfortunately great strength is also a great weakness as the Chinese saying goes. Grand Sphere relies on an Internet connection to function properly and this is not coincidental – the game downloads new files all the time that advance the story. Here’s what happens – you defeat an enemy and there’s a short scene after that must be downloaded off the Internet. After the scene your new enemy must also be downloaded from the Internet. This greatly slows the gameplay and after a few turns it will surely make you mad so be warned!

Apart from this Grand Sphere offers nice hand-drawn 2D graphics and excellent sound. The graphics resemble Japanese manga and in fact the game has something to do with Japan because what we heard was Japanese for sure. Of course this is not bad at all – the graphics are really nice!

Grand Sphere is a nice game, designed for people who want to explore a huge game and have time to spend waiting on various files to get downloaded from the Internet on a constant basis. This might become a nuisance but if you have the nerves you will enjoy Grand Sphere for sure since this is a grand game with a lot of depth and great graphics.
