Microsoft releases new Windows 10 build

Microsoft has publicly announced that a new Windows 10 build is now available for download from Microsoft’s web site. The new build carries the 9879 version number and offers new windowing and gesture improvements, improvements to Internet Explorer, tweaks to OneDrive usage and then more.

We’ll give you an idea what to expect if you decide to download and run the new Windows 10 build. This piece of software comes with various new functions – now users can hide the Search and Task View buttons on the taskbar – a suggestion by Windows 10 users. To do so, just right-click on the taskbar to bring up the menu and then uncheck the appropriate button.

There are five new gestures for precision tracking too – tap on the pad with three fingers to search, move three fingers up to bring the Task View and then three fingers down to tell Windows to show the desktop. Move your fingers left and right and you will scroll through open apps. The minimize and restore animations have also been tweaked so that they are not as “jarring” as before.

Build 9879 now allows users to pin favorite folders and play MKV files in Windows Media Player and adds a new Insider Hub app so that participants in Insider can quickly get announcements and news regarding the program. The Feedback app is also changed so that now it is easier to provide Microsoft with relevant information.

The new Windows 10 build 9879 will be the last for this year. ISO files will also be provided but this will happen after the build reaches users via Windows Update.
