SIG presents the Bluetooth 5 standard

As expected the Bluetooth SIG organization has unveiled all the tech specs of the next-gen Bluetooth data transmission standard. Not surprisingly the standard is called Bluetooth 5 (yes, just Bluetooth “five”).

The new standard is twice as fast as Bluetooth 4 and features four times the range of the older Bluetooth standard. In addition to this the new Bluetooth 5 standard can work with up to eight connected devices at the same time. Despite all these new features Bluetooth 5 will enjoy the same energy efficiency as Bluetooth 4. According to SIG Bluetooth 5 is perfect for Internet of Things (IoT), either inside or outside.

The mass adoption of Bluetooth 5 is expected in late 2016 and in 2017.
