VAIO debuts two new notebook lines for professionals

VAIO is a brand name that you may still associate with Sony but the truth is that nowadays VAIO has nothing to do with the famous Japanese company. Some time ago Sony sold the brand name due to poor sales results so a new company with the same name was born. Despite the change VAIO kept on producing notebooks and even other devices.

VAIO is now back with two new notebook lines – the Z and the S series. The Z series encompasses flagship notebooks, while the S series targets mobile business professionals. The Z series includes clamshell and flip models that allow end users to use them as tablets. The Z series models offer a 13.3-inch display that works at 1920 x 1080 pixels (clamshell) or 2560 x 1440 pixels (flip), either Core i5 or Core i7 Skylake processors, 8 GB or 16 GB of DDR4 memory, NVMe drive options and a battery that can last for up to 12 hours. The S series is pretty much the same as the Z series – S series notebooks have the same 13.3-inch display at Full HD resolution, the same Skylake processors, 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of SSD storage (the 128 GB SSD option uses a SATA port, while the 256 GB SSD option uses PCIe).

The new VAIO Z notebooks in clamshell form factor start at USD 1499 and up, while the Z flip models start at USD 1799 and up. The VAIO S notebooks start at USD 1099. All new VAIO notebooks will be available online or at authorized resellers and select partners starting on February 8 this year.
