Apparently yesterday’s announcement of a bunch of new Intel Haswell Core i3 and Pentium processors was not enough for chipzilla Intel – the company today unveiled its awaited new Core i7 processors, based on “Ivy Bridge-E” silicon.
The new CPU family is based on LGA2011 and consists of three members. The top-end Core i7-4960X Extreme Edition costs USD 990 and offers six cores clocked at 3.6 GHz (4.0 GHz Turbo Boost), 15 MB of L3 cache and Hyper-Threading; the Core i7-4930K sells for USD 555 and has six cores at 3.4 GHz (3.9 GHz Turbo Boost), 12 MB of L3 cache and Hyper-Threading. The slowest processor of the three is the Core i7-4820K – this one costs USD 310 and offers four cores at 3.7 GHz (3.9 GHz Turbo Boost), 10 MB of L3 cache and Hyper-Threading technology.
The three chips are built on 22 nm technology and feature a quad-channeled DDR3 memory controller with support for DDR3-1866, 48-lane PCI-E 3.0 and TDP of 130 watts.
