Lian Li presents the new Ebonsteel case series

A day after Lian Li presented its new PC-K5X computer case, the Taiwanese enterprise has announced not a new PC chassis, but an entirely new computer case line called Ebonsteel. The new series includes three models at the moment – a number that will likely grow in the near future. The cases are called PC-K5, PC-K6 and PC-K6S and each one of them comes with its own distinctive features but there are a few things that characterize them all – they have been designed for gamers on a budget and they feature tool-less designs, removable mesh filters, vibration-dampened PSU mounts and much more.

Just like the PC-K6 and the PC-K6S, the PC-K5 has been entirely made of steel. This mid-tower case supports micro-ATX and ATX motherboards and includes two removable drive cages for a total of four 3.5-inch or four 2.5-inch drives. The case is large enough it can house VGA cards that are up to 250 mm long (with the drive cages removed the length increases to 400 mm), PSUs that are up to 250 mm long and CPU coolers that are up to 180 mm tall. The PC-K5 features two 120 mm intake fans on the front panel and a single 120 mm exhaust fan in the back. The case also supports water cooling solutions and has enough space for a 120 x 240 x 60 mm radiator on the top fan mounts. There are two 5.25-inch drive bays on the front panel and the top panel boasts one USB 3.0, two USB 2.0 and HD audio inputs.

The PC-K6 is also a mid-tower case that supports mATX and ATX motherboards. This case supports seven 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch drives that are situated in such a way as to face the panel opposite the motherboard. The drives and the PSU inside the PC-K6 are covered with steel panels which improves the overall look of the hardware components inside. The case can house VGA cards that are up to 310 mm long, PSUs that are up to 310 mm long and CPU coolers that are up to 170 mm tall. The PC-K6 has two 120 mm intake fans on the front panel and a single 120 mm exhaust fan in the back. Users can, however, install 140 mm intake fans and two additional 120 mm or 140 mm fans on the top panel. Moreover, the case supports a single 120 x 240 x 60 mm or 140 x 280 x 60 mm radiator for liquid cooling solutions. Up front the PC-K6 has two 5.25-inch bays and two USB 3.0, one USB 2.0 and HD audio inputs located on the top panel.

The last case, called PC-K6S, is almost identical to the PC-K6 but offers a few more features. This case is the silent one among the three, hence the S letter in its name. The PC-K6S is equipped with sound-dampening foam inserts in the panels to isolate fan noise inside the chassis and up front the case comes with a hinge that eases access to the 5.25-inch bays and the 120 mm intake fans. The case also has two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports and HD audio connectors on top.

The new Ebonsteel cases by Lian Li will be on the market in mid-June for the PC-K5 and in late June for the PC-K6 and PC-K6S. The PC-K5 will sell for USD 56 and its windowed version for USD 60, while the PC-K6 and PC-K6S will retail for USD 93 and USD 109, respectively.
