Microsoft releases Windows 8.1

US software giant Microsoft has officially announced the global availability of Windows 8.1 – the first major upgrade to the latest Microsoft Windows 8.1 operating system.

Windows 8.1 includes a number of new features that include a redesigned Start button, the opportunity to choose to boot directly to desktop or not, improved search functions, a wider range of apps, the new Internet Explorer 11, native support for 3D printing, a redesigned Windows Store and deeper cloud integration with SkyDrive.

Windows 8.1 is now available as a free update to Windows 8 users. You can also purchase the OS update as boxed software or with new devices now.
