HTC prepares new One smartphone

HTC’s One series currently includes the One X smartphone, which is the most powerful device in the line, the mid-range One S device and the entry level One V. All seems good but apparently not good enough for HTC as the company is currently working on a new device, known under the HTC Proto codename that will sit between the One V and the One S.

The HTC Proto is expected to pack a dual-core 1 GHz Qualcomm MSM8225 processor, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of internal storage, a 5 MP rear camera and a 4-inch Super LCD display with a WVGA resolution. Additionally the device will support HSPA networks up to 7.2 Mbps and like many recent HTC smartphones will also offer Beats Audio.

No word on commercial availability though but the device is expected to be announced this fall.
