Microsoft may release Windows 10 for smartphones soon

We all know that Microsoft will soon unify its operating systems under one OS that will run everywhere and that this OS is called Windows 10. While we have seen the desktop version of Windows 10, albeit as an early build, no such version for smartphones and other mobile devices has been seen around, except for a teaser image. Despite this fact, a former Microsoft employee now claims that Windows 10 for smartphones exists and is much closer to being released than expected.

The news comes out of Nazwil Najeeb who is known for being a veteran Windows leaker. He now claims that Microsoft is testing three new versions of Windows for phones, including version 8.15.12434, which is Windows 10, according to him. No information of any features has been shared but judging from the teaser image, revealed back in September, Windows 10 for smartphones will keep the Live Tiles home screen used in this software ever since the release of Windows Phone 7.

There’s no word on a possible Windows 10 for smartphones release date but it will not be tomorrow for sure as, according to Mr. Najeeb, Microsoft will have to first release two other Windows 8.1 builds – update 1 and update 2. At the same time a while ago Microsoft said there would not be a Windows 8.1 update 2, which suggests that the 8.10.15xxx update may be just a minor update. In any case there will be Windows 10 for smartphones and the only question is – when?
