Nokia plans Lumia smartphones with Android on board

Nokia has always been a fan of Windows Phone but recently the company released its first smartphones with a modified version of Android. While this sounded exciting a while ago in reality most of these smartphones were locked to a Nokia ecosystem that prevented users from freely downloading Android apps from the Internet. Now all this is going to drastically change as the Finnish company will soon release its first purely Android-based smartphones.

What’s known so far is that they will belong to the Nokia by Microsoft brand name and will include certain Lumia models. Still, Nokia will not completely switch to Android – most models by the company will still run Windows Phone.

Not much else is known at the moment but the first Nokia devices with Android on board should come out by the end of the year.
