Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 to come with photo optimizations

The Qualcomm management team has announced that the upcoming Snapdragon 820 mobile processor will come with special hardware optimizations that will make taking and working with photos a lot easier than before.

The Snapdragon 820 launch date is set for H2 2015 and the chip will come with a brand new 64-bit architecture and a FinFET production process. In addition the Snapdragon 820 will be the first chip that will adopt the Zeroth platform. This will allow the chip to automatically apply the best settings when taking pictures and will ease the work with the pictures taken. Thus end users will see the pictures taken faster and their storage will also be improved. Snapdragon 820 will also allow users to sort and search their pictures more rapidly.

Apart from the Snapdragon 820 Qualcomm has announced that it is working on a new Snapdragon 818 10-core chip that will battle MediaTek’s ten-core processor we talked about a while ago. The Snapdragon 818 will have four Cortex-A53 cores at 1.2 GHz, four Cortex-A72 cores at 2.0 GHz and two Cortex-A53 cores at 1.6 GHz. The processor will support LPDDR4 memory and will have Adreno 532 graphics, support for LTE thanks to an integrated MDM9X55 modem and will be built on 20 nm production process.
