Motorola Aadmiral, QWERTY equipped rugged Android

Motorola and Sprint have introduced the first smartphone with Direct Connect, the Motorola Admiral which combines a 3.1-inch (640 x 480) touchscreen display, enhanced with Corning Gorilla Glass and QWERTY keyboard. The phone also meets Military Standard 810G for dust, shock, vibration, solar radiation, low pressure and high and low temperatures.

The Admiral is built with business in mind, it runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and offers gold standard in push-to-talk capabilities. It is powered by a 1.2GHz processor, has 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, GPS and eCompass, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi with hotspot capabilities, Bluetooth 2.1, a microSD clot, and a 1,860 mAh battery. On the rear side, it packs a 5-megapixel camera with flash, 4x zoom and 720p HD video recording, and a 1860 mAh battery.

The phone comes with enhanced security features, including password support, remote wipe and data encryption, as well as more than 30 other security policies and data encryption on  microSD card. It supports Microsoft Exchange and other email systems,and has pre-instaled with Quickoffice and full suite of Google mobile services. The phone measures 61.95(l) 118.95(h) 12.15 (w) and weighs 133.6g.

Motorola Admiral will go on sale through Sprint for $99.99 with a two-year service agreement, after a $50 mail-in rebate, starting October 23, and in all channels starting November 13.
