How to improve your search optimization in four easy steps
Research suggests that since the start of January 2018, every day has seen an average of one million new people using the internet for the first time. That is a huge number of people and it builds on top of the previous billions who were already online to make for a significant number of online users. The goal, quite naturally, for most online companies and publishers, is to access as many of those people as possible. But for many, quite how to do that is a mystery or even an impossibility. But, with a bit of research, the right partners and a degree of nous it can be done. To help steer you in the right direction, here are a few ideas to help set you on the right path.
As for help
One of the most important things here is to recognise that you don’t need to do it all yourself. Use a search engine to look for some help – when you are trying to find experts in search engine optimisation it seems like a very logical place to start. Type a phrase like ‘SEO Melbourne services’ into Google and see who comes out top of the list. Straight away you have your winner. If you can get an ally like this batting for you then you will have solved a big part of your problem.
Content for the win
Make sure that your website is designed in such a way that you can add web content to it regularly. If it is a blog or publisher-type site, then that goes without saying. If it is an e-commerce site or a corporate portal you should nevertheless ensure that there is scope for thought-leader type blogs. You don’t need to add new content every day, but it is something that should be updated regularly – Google is fond of this and it will improve your ranking on the grounds of original content, relevance, and activity.
Get people to review your site or the merchandise that you sell. Search engines love it when sites link to each other. The more inbound links you have coming to your site the more of an authority you appear to be on a subject. This is very good for your ranking and it will be noted. But how do you get those incoming links? Promotions are a great way to do it. Sure, you will have to give away some merchandise or face a degree of criticism, but each review will bring with it a link or reference and it will grow from there.
Get active in the social space
Social media is a great way to spread the word about your site, especially if you are able to piggyback off a trending topic or highly relevant conversation. Don’t just add noise to the social media space, rather create value. Great viral content that is witty and appealing has the capacity to go far. It translates into brand building, links sharing and to grow your credibility as a platform. These are all things that Google likes and they will have a lasting impact on your search engine rankings.
