AMD Kaveri Refresh processors listed

As you probably expect AMD plans to release a large number of products this year. We already wrote of the upcoming Radeon Rx 300 generation, codenamed Pirate Islands, but there will be something new on the CPU field too and the new product is called Kaveri Refresh.

The name of the new CPU (or more precisely APU) line says a lot – the chips will be based on the already released Kaveri architecture but will also bring something new and this new thing will be higher clock speeds and a significantly improved integrated graphics core. Apart from these two the chips will largely be the same – they will be built on the proven 28 nm tech process and will run in Socket FM2+ motherboards. By the way the official name of the Kaveri Refresh line will be Godavari, which happens to be a river in India.

Here’s a list of the upcoming Godavari (Kaveri Refresh) chips. The numbers say a lot so we will not go into details here. Instead we will say that the AMD A10-8850K (3.7/4.1 GHz), A8-8650K (3.2/3.5 GHz) and A6-8550K (3.1/3.5 GHz) processors will be unlocked for easier overclocking and that the A6-8550K will have just two computational cores, unlike the A10-8850K and A8-8650K chips, which have four cores. In addition the A10 and A8 lines will have Radeon R7 graphics, while the A6 and A4 chips will have to live with Radeon R5 GPUs.

The new chips are expected in March.
