GeForce GTX 880 likely to debut in September

3D graphics fans and gamers know very well by now that the first high-end Maxwell video cards will appear this fall. Now online sources suggest that the high-end GeForce GTX 880 will appear sooner than expected – in September 2014.

Previously the card was expected in October or even in November this year but now it appears that it will come sooner. The launch will be accompanied by a big launch event with various presentations, speeches and more. Unfortunately these same sources say that the launch will be a paper one only with the first actual cards reaching the market in late September or in early October.

As to tech specs there is little information. Even the number of stream processors is unknown but the card is expected to have a 256-bit memory bus and 4 GB of GDDR5 memory. This will not make it the top high-end model but the GTX 880 will be close. The board design of the GTX 880 will resemble the GTX 770 but the card is expected to be more powerful than the GTX 780 and it may even rival the GTX 780 Ti. As to pricing the GeForce GTX 880 is expected to sell for around USD 400 – 450.
