Sony’s new range of 5.1-channel and 2.1-channel Blu-ray Disc home entertainment systems for 2010

All 5.1-channel and 2.1-channel surround sound systems feature Blu-ray Disc playback, DVD upscaling, the award winning XrossMediaBar™ (XMB™) on-screen menu and Internet streaming, allowing access to a wide range of on-demand content. They all have a slimline, minimalist look to match the stylish new BRAVIA® models.

The range-topping BDV-IZ1000W is able to play 3D content from Blu-ray via the latest 3D enabled TVs.

BDV-IZ1000W: clean, elegant looks and access to a world of entertainment

The BDV-IZ1000W is the first all-in-one home cinema system from Sony ready to play high-definition 3D content from Blu-ray Disc, and can also access a world of online video entertainment from the BRAVIA Internet Video platform.

Sony BDV-IZ1000W

BRAVIA Internet Video lets you watch the programmes you missed on popular ‘catch-up’ TV services[, beginning with Five On Demand™ from early 2010. Scos TO INSERT LOCAL SERVICE]. Catch-up TV is one of Europe’s fastest growing trends and means you can enjoy full-screen re-runs of your favourite TV shows at times that suit you.

There’s also a whole world of free, on-demand videos to explore from sharing websites such as YouTube™, Dailymotion™, Wired™ and many more. There’s no need to hook up your PC or watch on a cramped screen; you can quickly access new videos and services as they’re added and stream full-screen content direct to your TV.

The BDV-IZ1000W also includes Entertainment Database Browser by Sony to access disc cover art, actor, and production information, as well as IP Content Noise Reduction technology and Precision Cinema HD Upscaling to improve standard definition and web video quality.

DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) certification also means the system is able to stream content from a wide range of external devices and can be controlled with its own universal remote control or with an iPod touch or iPhone. Unique to the new home cinema systems from Sony, users with an iPhone or iPod touch can control the players using a free app that can be downloaded from the Apple App Store. The app allows an iPhone or iPod touch to function as a remote control and includes the ability to access a Blu-ray disc’s details such as jacket artwork, actor, and production information as well as search for additional video clips online.

The BDV-IZ1000W delivers the full cinema experience via five ultra slim speakers, using a virtual 7.1 wireless rear speaker system and 1000W of S-Master full digital technology by Sony. Digital Cinema Auto Calibration (DCAC) provides perfect, simple and accurate set-up, while HD-D.C.S. (Digital Cinema Sound) uses sound recordings from Sony Pictures Entertainment studios to recreate an at-the-movies experience in your living room.

Two HDMI inputs allow connection of other entertainment devices such as cable/satellite set-top boxes or PlayStation®3, so they too can be experienced in glorious surround sound.

The BDV-IZ1000W will be joined by more 5.1-channel Blu-ray home cinema systems during 2010, all with BRAVIA Internet Video streaming, the Gracenote-based Entertainment Database Browser, iPod and WALKMAN® playback over USB, DLNA compatibility* and iPod touch or iPhone control. These are:
