Intel has undertaken an interesting new marketing approach towards its Atom processors – just like the Core series, Atom will also have brand levels.
Upcoming Atom chips will be known as Atom x3, Atom x5 and Atom x7. As the numbers suggest the Atom x3 will be the slowest among the three – this chip will be suitable for entry-level tablets, phablets and smartphones. The Atom x5 is a more powerful solution with better performance, while the Atom x7 will be the fastest solution of them all.
The new numbers will be used starting with the next Atom generation.
