Microsoft to present Windows 9 by end of September

The next version of Windows, known as Windows 9, will be publicly presented by the end of September 2014, sources close to Microsoft have said.

The information has been confirmed by various web sites that say Microsoft will have a special media event on September 30 where Windows 9 will be presented to journalists. In addition to that a Technology Preview of Windows 9 will also be delivered to developers on that date or in early October.

Windows 9, codenamed Threshold, is expected to have the so-called mini Start Menu, several UI changes and a version of Cortana, which is voice navigation. At the same time Windows 9 will get rid of the Charms menu.

Meanwhile a supposedly real Windows 9 logo has appeared on the Internet but it was later confirmed that the logo is fake.
