Samsung releases super thin external burner

Apart from making famous smartphones the Korean Samsung can produce a large number of other products the latest of which is an ultra thin external DVD-RW burner known as SE-B18AB.

The new Samsung product is 18 per cent thinner than other similar products designed and created by competing companies. Its thinness makes it perfect for use in notebooks and ultrabooks. The device supports USB and can burn CD-ROM and CD-RW disks at up to 24x of speed; DVD-R/DVD+R/DVD+RW disks at 8x; dual layer DVD disks at 6x and DVD-RAM disks at 5x. In addition thanks to the so-called AV Connectivity technology the new optical drive can be connected to tablet computers too but in such a case it cannot burn optical disks.

The Samsung SE-B18AB is fully compatible with Windows 8, Mac OS and Android. Its price is unknown as of now.
