Lenovo starts sales of A586 Android smartphone with “face unlock”

The Chinese company Lenovo has started sales of a new smartphone – the Android-based A586.

The new Lenovo smartphone is unusual because it comes with “face unlock” – a new security function that unlocks the phone after the user says a certain phrase and the smartphone recognizes it.

The rest of the smartphone features include 1.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8225 dual-core processor, 4.5-inch display working at 480 x 854 pixels, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, rear 5 MP camera with auto focus, Bluetooth 3.0 and 802.11n Wi-Fi, GPS receiver, 3.5 mm audio jack and a USB port. In addition the smartphone supports GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz and WCDMA networks at 2100 MHz.

The Lenovo A586 smartphone will sell for USD 160.
